Just a quick check in to say that we are safe and sound on the ground in Uganda! After a LONG day (or was it days? we still are not sure) of flying, we landed at Entebbe at 11:15pm, got our Visas, retrieved all 12 pieces of luggage (hooray!), met up with Patrick (one of our drivers, and the husband of our Ugandan lawyer, Dorah), and headed for home. We were met at home by our new friend, Joshua, who is taking very good care of us. He made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to get settled. Joshua had already stocked the fridge with many fresh fruits and veggies, fresh bread, and a few other staples for the house and kitchen. We are thankful. By the time we were situated enough to put the kids to bed it was 1am (thankfully, they slept a lot on both flights earlier, and they are still sleeping even now as I type).
The adults stayed up for a few more hours to unpack and sort suitcases, and then headed to bed ourselves.
This morning has been quiet so far, the “crew” is still asleep but Dave and I awoke early to meet Joshua and William so we could get internet set up, and so we could unpack some more. You would not believe the view from our bedroom. I could stare at it ALL day. There are banana crops, animals, and a view of Lake Victoria. It is gorgeous. I can not wait to see more of this country.
In an hour Patrick will return and we will be briefed on what this week will look like. Then, hopefully right after that, we will go to meet the kids! To say I’m excited is an understatement. Meet the kids?!!! Yes. It is time.
I hope to share more soon about our journey here (the people we met, the beauty of the full moon, seen twice (ha!) outside the plane window, and our initial experiences here, and photos of the journey) but time is limited now and there is much to be done to get settled still. We will be in touch soon.
Thank you for all of your encouragement, prayers, and well-wishes. You continue to be along with us on this journey (though we are very far away now), and we are thankful.
